Webinar Wednesday 12 May 12:30-13:30 - Lost in Translation

Is the value of designing 'lost in translation'?  We need to address working collaboratively to unleash the value of designing in innovation.

BIDA’s Designers in Innovation event in January was attended by over 250 people and sparked good debate about the challenges the Design Profession has encountered over many years in getting across a message about the transformative added value designing can add to a business or situation. But designers are often talking in an echo chamber.

We agreed that a useful next event would be to invite non-designers to discuss their experiences and further explore why the designing message is often ‘lost in translation’ and how the design profession, present and future, might be better placed to support innovation.  As Dr Ian Campbell, Innovate UK Chair states in the Design in Innovation Strategy 2020-2024: ‘As the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020 shows, there has never been a more important time for the UK to be innovative’

We are really pleased to have assembled an impressive group of speakers (with more to add) to share their non-design perspective.  But in all cases from people who have a deep understanding of the value of design, and of working at levels in organisations, and scales of initiative that designers often struggle to reach.

This live online event will be held on Zoom with links provided to the registered audience shortly before the event starts.
