BIDA Director, Phil Gray has structured and helped compile the UK Design for Healthcare book for the Department of International Trade along with Christine Losecaat and in collaboration with DBA CEO Deborah Dawton. We started this project a while back and had no idea how the world would change and how healthcare would shift from being an important topic to being uppermost in everyone’s mind.

Thanks and congratulations to all those BIDA members whose projects were included. Now, more than ever, we can move the design conversation to focusing on its huge capability to think holistically and, in our siloed world, encourage greater attention towards outcomes. It requires special skills to work laterally across businesses to engage with all stakeholders and consumers alike. As we know it’s so much more than aesthetics and usability. This design handbook which will be distributed to all UK Embassies and Trade Missions as well as key academic institutions, trade associations and major companies in the sector,  demonstrates the incredible reach of design and how, in every example, whether it be diagnosis, treatment or care, holistic design thinking has solved problems, created value, encouraged and implemented change.
